My Favorite Campsites along John Muir Trail, ジョン・ミューア・トレイル沿いのお気に入りキャンプサイト

  John Muir TrailのFacebookグループでどんな場所でキャンプするのかという話題が出た。大部分のアメリカ人はJohn Muir Trailを初めて歩く。どこでキャンプすれば良いのかは、重大な関心事だろう。日本人はアメリカ式のキャンプ(水はどこかで調達して浄水器で濾す、トイレも山小屋もない)になじみがないし、想像を絶する事柄かもしれない。

 

  There was a discussion about where to camp in the Facebook group of  John Muir Trail.  Most Americans walk John Muir Trail for the first time. Where to camp would be a serious concern. The Japanese are unfamiliar with American-style camps (water should be gotten from somewhere and filtered, no restroom and no mountain lodge), which may be unimaginable.

 

  筆者は11年も夏ごとにアメリカに通い、John Muir Trailを7回も歩いた。景色はすべて頭に入ってしまい、どこでテントを張れば静かにキャンプができるか知っている。筆者の好きなのは、一人きりになれる場所であり、多くの人がキャンプするキャンプサイトではない。よく使われているキャンプサイトを避けると、環境へのインパクトが小さくなるし、動物からの被害を避けるのに、良いこともある。

 

  I went to America every summer for 11 years and walked John Muir Trail seven times. I know all the scenery and I know where to pitch a tent to camp quietly. I like places where I feel loneliness, not the well-used campsites where many people will stay at night. If you avoid popular campsites, it may be resulted less impact on the environment, and it is effective to avoid animals.

 

  筆者のお気に入りのキャンプサイトを写真で示しておいた。Caltopoという地図におおよその位置を記入したが、厳密な位置は説明していない。自分のお気に入りのサイトは自分で探すのがルールである。実は、もっと素晴らしいキャンプサイトはいくらでもある。自分の脚で発見してほしい。John Muir Trailには素晴らしい場所が数え切れないほどある。

 

  I have placed many photos of my favorite campsites. I pointed out the approximate location on Caltopo, but it did not explain the exact locations. Find your favorite site yourself.  There are plenty of better campsites. You should find it with your own legs. There are countless great places on the John Muir Trail.
